Salon, the UK’s longest established editing equipment hire company is proud to have provided Avid Media Composer systems to the hugely anticipated Batman feature “The Dark Knight” which goes on UK release this week. Editor Lee Smith & Assistant John Lee, having used Salon on “Batman Begins” were in touch immediately when they knew parts of the new film were to be shot in the UK. Salon engineers installed a number of systems in Covent Garden London prior to their arrival based on the precise specification they had provided so that the editorial team could quite literally step off the plane and head to the cutting room where they were greeted by Salon engineers to check everything was as they required.
After several weeks the whole unit and equipment moved up to Cardington Bedfordshire and in just one day Salon packed, transported and re-installed all 5 Media Composers, the Unity shared storage and a large film equipment set-up including a 35mm Steenbeck with Bi-Phase, edit benches and rewinders. “The Dark Knight” is just one of many large scale productions that have turned to Salon for their high level of technical support and well maintained equipment, Company Director Nick Long commented “The next few weeks seems to be a showcase for films serviced by us with ‘Donkey Punch’, ‘Angus, Thongs & Perfect Snogging’ and ‘Wild Child’ all heading to the UK Screens.
